Many years ago, in a time when my life was in chaos, someone helped me and it changed my life. Now, I'm spending my life helping others.
My journey to sitting in the therapist's chair began with me sitting on the client's couch. When I sat in front of a therapist for the first time, I was scared and confused and didn't know what to say. I know what it feels like to be afraid and skeptical and wonder if therapy could be for you. Over the course of two and a half years, our work changed me. It gave me something I had never had before: a better understanding and acceptance of who I am and what I want. For the first time in my entire life, I liked who I was! And I was determined to take this gift that I received into the world and give it to others.
The next step in that process was to get trained. I received my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University. While there, I completed externship training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), became certified in administering and interpreting the PREPARE/ENRICH premarital assessment, was elected to Chi Sigma Iota, the National Graduate Counseling Honor Society, and completed Breaking the Bonds of Sexual Addiction training at Bethesda Workshops. I also completed a clinical internship at the Trevecca Nazarene University Counseling Center.
I believe that our feelings were given to us as alerts to point us toward the desires, longings, and needs of our heart. By learning to listen to them we can become more intimately connected to ourselves, others, and God. I specialize in seeing couples for pre-marital (dating or engaged) counseling and marriage counseling. I also specialize in helping men seeking fighting against sexual addiction find recovery. If you're looking for someone to walk with you through life's challenges and help you find hope, I would love to invite you to contact me and set up an appointment. You don't have to walk that road alone!
